Victor Mensah, MD

Victor Mensah, MD, is a psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of complex and difficult-to-treat mood and personality presentations. He serves as Director of Neuromodulation at Richmond University Medical Center, where his work includes advanced interventional treatments for severe depression, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and accelerated TMS protocols for treatment-resistant depression.

Dr. Mensah is TMS-certified and has particular expertise in the care of patients whose symptoms have not responded adequately to standard medication approaches. His clinical work is informed by a deep interest in personality structure, longstanding relational patterns, and the psychological factors that can complicate recovery in patients with chronic depression, anxiety, and other persistent psychiatric conditions.

In addition to his interventional work, Dr. Mensah has training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and brings a nuanced, psychologically minded approach to treatment. He is especially interested in helping patients whose struggles are rooted not only in symptoms, but in enduring patterns of self-criticism, emotional rigidity, interpersonal difficulty, and complex inner conflict.

Dr. Mensah is also recognized for his commitment to academic medicine and physician education. He was the New York County Psychiatric Society Outstanding Faculty of 2026 in recognition of his dedication to resident teaching and medical education.
